WHAT IS THE ORTHODOX CHURCH?

The Bible Canon:

The Orthodox Church preserves the original Canon of Scripture decided in the 4th century. That’s why the Orthodox Bible includes books like Wisdom of Solomon and Maccabees… later removed by Protestants.

Tradition:

Orthodoxy doesn’t stop with the Bible alone.

These are the teachings passed down directly from Jesus and the teachings of the Apostles, the writings of the Fathers, the Prayers, the services, the icons, the worship, words and practices. All of this is part of how the Church lives the faith.

Bible and Tradition are not separated, they belong together. Orthodoxy has preserved this foundation unchanged for 2000 years.

That’s why the Orthodox Church is not a Denomination, it’s the original faith, the fullness of Christianity, preserved through time.

2 Thessalonians 2:15 reminds us:

“Therefore, brethren, stand fast and hold the traditions which you were taught, whether by word or our epistle”.
