Franciscan Friars
of the Forsaken

A mendicant brotherhood embracing Franciscan poverty, Orthodox worship, and a heart for the poor and indigenous — living the ancient faith without compromise.

Our Friary

Three brothers. One friary. An ancient way of life.

We are a small community of Anglo-Orthodox Franciscan friars (we are not under Rome) in El Paso, Texas. We embrace Franciscan poverty — working secular jobs to sustain ourselves rather than burdening those we serve. Our life is rooted in Orthodox worship, celebrating the Western Rite Liturgy and praying the Divine Office five times daily. We walk alongside the indigenous peoples of the Southwest, honoring their dignity and spiritual heritage. And we dedicate our ministry to the poor — the forgotten, the forsaken, those the world passes by.

Support the Work

Help us serve the forsaken

Our brothers embrace Franciscan poverty and work secular jobs to sustain the friary. Your gift frees us to deepen our Orthodox worship, walk alongside indigenous communities, and extend our hands to the poor of El Paso. Every dollar goes directly to the mission.

What We Stand For

Four pillars of our life and ministry

✛  Franciscan Poverty

Following St. Francis, we own nothing and ask nothing for ourselves. Our brothers work ordinary jobs — delivering food, washing dishes — so that everything given to us can flow outward to those in need.

✛  Orthodox Worship

We celebrate the Western Rite Orthodox Divine Liturgy and pray the canonical hours five times daily. Our worship is ancient, reverent, and unapologetically rooted in the undivided Church.

✛  Indigenous Presence

Our friary is named for St. Kateri Tekakwitha, the first indigenous North American saint. We walk with and serve the indigenous peoples of the Southwest, honoring their dignity and their place in God’s family.

✛  Service to the Poor

The forsaken are our vocation. We go to the margins — to those the world forgets — carrying prayer, presence, and practical help to the poorest among us in El Paso and beyond.

Prayer Requests

We carry every prayer request to the altar at each Liturgy. Nothing is too small. No one is forsaken.
